Learning Luxembourgish is rarely just about vocabulary. For many learners, it is connected to integration, work, family life, administration and citizenship. That is why my lessons combine linguistic precision with real life practice.

You will not only memorise phrases. You will understand how Luxembourgish relates to German, where pronunciation differs, how everyday speech works, and how to move from passive knowledge to confident speaking.

Meet your tutor

My name is Teodora Todorova. I hold a PhD in Linguistics, awarded summa cum laude (highest distinction) from the University of Trier in Germany.

I have been teaching Luxembourgish and German for several years and currently work mainly online via Zoom. Alongside my studies in Linguistics and Sociology, I also completed the studies “German as a Foreign Language” (DaF), qualifying me to teach German professionally.

To further expand my expertise, I successfully completed the university programme “Lëtzebuerger Sprooch a Kultur: Lëtzebuergesch als Friemsprooch” (Luxembourgish Language and Culture: Luxembourgish as a Foreign Language) at the University of Luxembourg in 2016, earning the professional qualification to teach Luxembourgish.

I am a certified teacher of Luxembourgish, German and Bulgarian, accredited by the Ministry of Education in Luxembourg. In addition, I have published several articles in international peer-reviewed journals in the field of linguistics. My research specialises in contrastive syntax, the comparative analysis of sentence structures across related languages, with a particular focus on grammar and semantics.

My teaching approach is personalised and flexible, carefully adapting each lesson to the learner's individual needs, language level and goals. For me, teaching is far more than a profession, it is a true vocation!

Learn Luxembourgish. Feel it. Speak it. And truly belong!

A structured method built around real speaking

How we work together

01

A solid base

We build on a proven textbook base, so paid time goes to speaking, not to what you can read at home. First the structure of the language, then using it in real speech.

02

Built around your life

No textbook characters. We build your vocabulary around your real life, your job, your commune, your weekend, so you can use it the very next day.

03

Sproochentest tactics

Every lesson rehearses the real exam: short small talk and a structured picture description. You learn to build a clear story and opinion, not just list objects.

04

Expand your word power

We grow your vocabulary through synonyms and antonyms, so you can express the same idea in several ways and sound natural, not repetitive.

The method is especially effective for adults who want calm, intelligent lessons without school like pressure. Each session is precise, practical and adapted to your learning speed.

Choose the format that fits your goal

Why multilingual tutoring gives you a real advantage

Many learners struggle because Luxembourgish is presented as an isolated language. In reality, it becomes easier when it is taught through comparison.

German speakers need to understand where Luxembourgish departs from standard German. English speakers need clear grammar and practical speaking patterns. Russian speakers often need a different route into pronunciation, word order and articles.

This is where a polyglot tutor gives you a real advantage: the lesson can move between languages, explain the same idea in different systems and remove confusion quickly.

The Sproochentest at a glance

A2Speaking
B1Listening

The oral exam is a short conversation plus describing a picture. Pass one part and you keep it, then re-sit only the other.

Preparing for the Sproochentest?

Build confidence before the exam.

The speaking part is not about sounding perfect. It is about answering clearly, naturally and with enough structure. We practise the situations you are most likely to face: introducing yourself, describing images, speaking about everyday life, work, family, hobbies, Luxembourg and future plans.

Always up to date

My students take the Sproochentest every month. After each exam we review it together, see how the test has evolved and which questions came up. That keeps my teaching aligned with the very latest topics and questions, so we prepare you for what the exam actually looks like now.

What students say

Real reviews

I cannot recommend a more professional, thorough and experienced teacher. She helped me go from zero to ready for the test in no time, with an excellent teaching style and all the right skills to ace the exam.

Manal Noorali

She adapts every lesson to your needs, corrects your written mistakes and pronunciation, and is flexible with scheduling. The 90-minute lessons are the sweet spot to practise a topic, speak and do picture descriptions, far better than watching videos.

Alexey

If you want one-to-one courses, take Teodora Todorova. She will help you achieve your goal.

Eric Lud

An excellent teacher who will definitely help you.

Frequently asked questions

How long does it take to prepare?

It depends on your starting level and how often you study. From scratch to the Sproochentest usually takes somewhere between six months and two years. After a first lesson I can give you a realistic plan.

How long is one lesson?

I recommend 60 or 90-minute one-to-one lessons. Most students choose 90 minutes, as it lets you work through a whole topic properly in a single lesson, with enough time to warm up, speak and practise picture descriptions in depth.

Are lessons online?

Yes, lessons are online by video, so you can join from anywhere and keep a flexible schedule.

Which languages can you teach in?

I speak Luxembourgish, German, French, English, Russian, Macedonian and Bulgarian, so I can explain things in the language that is easiest for you.

What do I need for online lessons?

A stable internet connection, a quiet place and a laptop or tablet. I will send you everything else we use.
